It'll be the first time that the Gateway City will have a top-flight outdoor soccer club since the departure of the St. Louis Stars of the original NASL left for Anaheim after the 1977 season.
The Stars played in the NASL from 1968 (after coming over from the NPSL following its' merger with the United Soccer Association) through 1977.
In Anaheim, the California Surf lasted four years before folding after the 1981 season.
This blog (formerly known as "Soccer or Association Football") is dedicated to the sport known as Soccer, Football, or Calcio.

Could St. Louis Get MLS Expanions Club?
The Gateway City had a club in the old National Professional Soccer League in 1967. The St. Louis Stars, after that league's merger with the United Soccer Association, played in the original NASL from 1968-77, before moving to Anaheim and becoming the California Surf, which folded after the 1981 season.
For much of their history, the Stars used a lineup largely made up of Americans.
