Following up their 3-2 road win from last week in the series opener, the Montreal Impact defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 at home on Saturday in game two to win the United Soccer Leagues First Division championship 6-3 on aggregate.Tony Donatelli (PK-30') , Jody Gjertsen (40') , and Roberto Brown (42') provided the goals for the Impact, who captured their third USL-1 championship.

Whitecaps Capture USL1 Title
At Burnaby, British Columbia:
Charles Gbeke scored twice (55', 73') to pace the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-1 home win over the Puerto Rico Islanders to win the 2008 Championship game of the First Division of the United Soccer Leagues. It was the Whitecaps' second USL-1 title in the last three seasons.

Islanders Reach Qualifying Round
The Puerto Rico Islanders, a member of the First Division of the United Soccer Leagues, won a berth in the qualifying round for the CONCACAF Champions League over the weekend:
The Islanders, who won the first leg, 1-0, at home, will join Harbour View of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago's Joe Public as the Caribbean representatives to the inaugural Concacaf Champions League.The three Caribbean teams will be among 16 teams vying for eight spots in group play. Two teams from Mexico and the USA and one each from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras earn automatic passage to the group stage.
Should a team from Canada other than Toronto FC advance from their country's three-team tournament, we could see two USL-1 teams in the qualifying round.

Sounders Win Fourth USL1 Title
At Seattle:
On Saturday night, the Seattle Sounders won their fourth United Soccer Leagues First Division championship, brassknuckling the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-0. This may have been the Sounders' final game, with reports coming from Seattle media that the Emerald City may get a Major League Soccer expansion franchise, to begin play in 2009.
