MLS: Fire Knocked Off At Home; Whitecaps Bury Chivas USA At Home, Knock Goats, Timbers, Rapids Out Of Playoff Race

Two games were played in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Jack McInerney (7'), Gabriel Gomez (67'), and Antoine Hoppenot (87') each delivered a goal as the Philadelphia Union delivered a body blow to the Chicago Fire's chances of winning the Eastern Conference title with a 3-1 road win.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Gershon Koffie (11'), Dane Richards (35'), Camilo Sanvezzo (62'), and Barry Robson (73') each scored a goal as the Vancouver Whitecaps snapped a seven-match winless streak by demolishing Chivas USA 4-0 at home, giving themselves badly needed breathing room as they now lead FC Dallas by five points with two games left (though the Hoops have a game in hand), while at the same time, eliminated the Goats, Portland Timbers, and Colorado Rapids from playoff contention.
