In Saturday's opening contest of the Asian Cup tournament, Ahmed Khalil converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute for the equalizing goal as the United Arab Emirates salvaged a 1-1 Group A draw with Bahrain.

Mohamed Al Romaihi scored for the visitors in the 78th minute.
