Qualifying-group action in the OFC Champions League commenced on Sunday with all such games being contested at CIFA Academy Field in Matavera, Cook Islands.
In the opener, Tuia Falepapalangi produced a hat trick (53', 66', 69') as Tonga's Lotoha'apai United ran roughshod over American Samoa's Pago Youth 5-1.
In the nightcap, Grover Harmon scored the game winner in the 18th minute as Tupapa Maraerenga, from the host nation, dominated Samoa's Kiwi FC 4-1.

The top two teams would advance to the Group State proper.
