MLS: Timbers, Hoops Secure Playoff Spots As Regular Season Ends; Quakes, Rapids Eliminated; Carlos Vela Sets Single-Season Goals Record; LAFC Sets Single-Season Points Record; DC, Galaxy Blow Shots At Hosting First-Round Playoff Games

Major League Soccer concluded its' regular season with 12 games.

At Atlanta:

Darlington Nagbe (3'), Josef Martinez (49'), and Julian Gressel (57') each scored once as Atlanta United clinched second place in the Eastern Conference with a 3-1 home victory over the New England Revolution, a club they will host in the opening round of the playoffs.

At Frisco, Texas:

Zdnek Ondrasek scored twice (9', 68') as FC Dallas secured a playoff berth after stomping visiting Sporting Kansas City 6-0.

At Washington:

Despite playing the entire second half with only nine men, FC Cincinnati gained a 0-0 road stalemate with DC United which cost their opponents a chance to host an opening-round playoff game.

At Houston:

Christian Ramirez turned out to be Superman on this Sunday as he scored twice (45'+2, 83') to lead the Houston Dynamo to a 4-2 home victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy, denying their guests an opportunity to host a first-round playoff game.

At Los Angeles:

Carlos Vela produced a hat trick (28', 31', 51') that enabled him to set a new MLS single-season record for goals scored (34) as the Los Angeles Football Club set a new single-season points record (72) by defeating the visiting Colorado Rapids 3-1, ending the guests' outside shot at making the playoffs.

At Montreal:

Bojan Krkic (23'), Maximiliano Urruti (37'), and Orji Okwonkwo (62') each scored once as the Montreal Impact closed out their season by dominating the visiting New York Red Bulls 3-0.

At Orlando, Florida:

In a match-up of already-eliminated clubs, Przemyslaw Frankowski scored twice (67', 87') as the Chicago Fire overcame an early deficit to dominate Orlando City 5-2 on the road.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Ronald Matarrita (7') and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi (22') each scored once in the opening half-hour as New York City held off the visiting Philadelphia Union 2-1.

At Portland, Oregon:

Larrys Mabiala (29'), Dairon Asprilla (59'), and Sebastian Blanco (75') each scored once as the Portland Timbers secured a playoff spot after defeating the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 3-1, knocking the guests out of the playoff chase.

At Seattle:

Roman Torres scored the lone goal of the match in the 29th minute as the Seattle Sounders defeated visiting Minnesota United 1-0 to secure second place in the Western Conference.

At Toronto:

Alejandro Pozeulo scored the only goal of the contest in minute #58 as Toronto FC defeated the visiting Columbus Crew 1-0 to secure an opening-round home playoff date.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Damir Kreilach's goal in the 28th minute carried Real Salt Lake to a 1-0 road victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
