Tuesday action in Group B of UEFA Champions League group stage play.
At Lyon, France:
With goals courtesy of Lisandro Lopez (62', that's him celebrating) and Alexandre Lacazette (88'), Lyon gained a 2-2 home draw with Hapoel Tel Aviv, depriving the Israeli club a shot at Europa League play.

At Lisbon, Portugal:
Schalke 04 secured top spot in Group B with a 2-1 road win over SL Benfica (the Portuguese club will play in the Europa League's Round of 32). Jose Jurado (19', that's him [right] celebrating with teammate Ivan Rakitic) and Benedikt Howedes (81') each providing a goal for the Royal Blues.

Schalke and Lyon advanced to the knockout stage of the Champions League. SL Benfica qualified for Europa League knockout stage play. Hapoel Tel Aviv have been eliminated from European competition.
Two Wednesday UEFA Champions League contests took place in Group B.
At Gelsenkirchen, Germany:
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored twice (20', 89', he's seen celebrating after his first tally), as FC Schalke, slowly awaking from their sleeping-pill start to their domestic campaign, clinched a Champions League knockout stage berth with a 3-0 home beatdown of fellow Round-of-16 entrants Lyon.
At Tel Aviv, Israel:
Eran Zehavi scored twice (24', 90') as Hapoel Tel Aviv stunned visiting Benfica 3-0. They not only knocked the visiting Portuguese club from Champions League contention, they also still have a shot at overtaking the Eagles for a berth in the Europa League's knockout stage. Fabio Coentrao scored twice (32' first goal pictured here, 67') as SL Benfica narrowly avoided blowing a four-goal lead and held off visiting Lyon 4-3.

Hapoel Tel Aviv picked up their first ever UEFA Champions League group stage point by holding visiting Schalke 04 to a 0-0 stalemate. Group B action in the UEFA Champions League continued on Wednesday.
At Lyon, France:
Lyon continued their perfect start to their group stage campaign with a 2-0 home win over SL Benfica. Jimmy Briand (21') and Lisandro Lopez (51') each scored a goal for the hosts. As they continue their recovery from their awful domestic start, Schalke 04, thanks to goals from Jefferson Farfan (73', that's him mobbed by teammates) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (85'), defeated visiting Benfica 2-0.

Michel Bastos was credited with the game's only score at 21 minutes as last year's semifinalists Lyon defeated visiting Schalke 04, who are off to a miserable start in their domestic Bundesliga campaign, 1-0.
