UCL Group B: Eagles Hold Firm In Wild One Against Lyon; Hapoel Tel Aviv Eliminated

Two games in Group B action in the UEFA Champions League were contested on Tuesday.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Benfica's Alan Kardec scores the opening goal against Lyon
Fabio Coentrao scored twice (32' first goal pictured here, 67') as SL Benfica narrowly avoided blowing a four-goal lead and held off visiting Lyon 4-3.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

Schalke's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar vies for the ball with Hapoel Tel Aviv's Douglas da Silva

Hapoel Tel Aviv picked up their first ever UEFA Champions League group stage point by holding visiting Schalke 04 to a 0-0 stalemate.  Nevertheless, the Israeli club was eliminated from contention for a berth in the knockout stage.  Pictured here, we see Schalke's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar battling Hapoel's Douglas da Silva for the ball.
