Tuesday saw the conclusion of Group G action in the UEFA Champions League as two games were played.
At Porto, Portugal:
An incredible eigtht-save performance by goalkeeper Viacheslav Malafeev enabled Zenit Saint Petersburg to gain a 0-0 road draw with FC Porto, enough for the Russian club to advance to the Champions League's knockout stage while the Dragons had to settle for a Europa League Round-of-32 berth. At Nicosia, Cyprus:
Luiz Adriano (62',that's him being congratulated by teammate Yaroslav Rakitskiy) and Yevhen Seleznyov (78') provided the scoring punch as Shakhtar Donetsk knocked off APOEL FC 2-0 on the road. Despite suffering their first setback of the tournament, the Cypriot club still won Group G.

APOEL FC and Zenit Saint Petersburg advanced to the Champions League's knockout stage, while FC Porto will try to capture a second straight Europa League crown. Shakhtar Donetsk have been eliminated from European competition.
UEFA Champions League group-stage action continued on Wednesday with two contests in Group G.
At Saint Petersburg, Russia:
By holding hosts Zenit Saint Petersburg to a 0-0 draw, APOEL FC locked up a berth in the knockout stage, becoming the first Cypriot club to do so. Referee Felix Brych stopped the match twice after the pitch was enveloped by thick smoke from flares lit by Zenit supporters, as shown here.

At Donetsk, Ukraine:
Hulk (79', seen here celebrating) and Razvan Rat (OG-90'+2) provided the scoring that carried FC Porto to a 2-0 road win over Shakhtar Donestsk, keeping the Dragons alive for a berth in the knockout stage while eliminating the Ukrainian club from European competition.

At Saint Petersburg, Russia:
Nicolas Lombaerts (that's him battling Shakhtar's Alex) scored the only goal of the match at 45 minutes as Zenit Saint Petersburg defeated visiting Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0.
At Nicosia, Cyprus:
Ailton Jose Almeida (PK-42', shown here congratulated by teammates) and Gustavo Manduca (90') provided the scoring as APOEL FC stayed atop Group G following their 2-1 home win over FC Porto

At Donetsk, Ukraine:
Zenit Saint Petersburg, with goals scored by Roman Shirokov (33', that's him, on the right, celebrating with Danny) and Viktor Fayzulin (60'), gained a 2-2 road draw with Shakhtar Donetsk. The hosts' tallies came courtesy of Willian (15') and Luiz Adriano (45'+1).
At Porto, Portugal:
Ailton scored at 19 minutes (that's him celebrating) as APOEL FC gained a 1-1 road draw with FC Porto. Hulk scored for the Dragons in the 13th minute.

Roman Shirokov scored twice (20' [above are players celebrating], 63') as Zenit Saint Petersburg defeated visiting FC Porto in come-from-behind fashion 3-1.
At Donetsk, Ukraine:
Jadson's goal at 64 minutes enabled Shakhtar Donetsk to salvage a 1-1 home draw with APOEL FC. Ivan Trickovski had scored for the visiting Cypriot club in the 61st minute as the visitors maintained sole possession of the top spot in Group G.
