CONCACAF Champions League: Its Goats Vs. Reds For The Marbles

The semifinal round of the CONCACAF Champions League wrapped up with two games on Tuesday.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

A 0-0 game-two road deadlock was good enough for Chivas de Guadalajara as the Mexican club won their series with the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on aggregate.

At Mexico City:

Jonathan Osorio scored in the 12th minute for Toronto FC as the Canadian club gained a game-two 1-1 draw with Club America and won their series 4-2 on aggregate to become the third Major League Soccer club (and second Canadian club) to reach the CONCACAF Champions League final.

CONCACAF Champions League: Goats To Ten-Man Red Bulls In Series Opener

At Guadalajara, Mexico:

In the opening match of a CONCACAF Champions League semifinal series, Isaac Brizuela scored the only goal in the 26th minute as Chivas de Guadalajara defeated the visiting, ten-man New York Red Bulls 1-0.

CONCACAF Champions League: Reds Take Semifinal Series Opener With America

At Toronto:


In the opening contest of the CONCACAF Champions League's semifinal round on Tuesday, Sebastian Giovinco (9'), Jozy Altidore (44'), and Ashtone Morgan (58') each scored once as Toronto FC defeated visiting Club America 3-1 in the opening match of their two-game series.

Andres Ibarguen provided what might still be a precious road goal for the Mexican club in the 21st minute.

CONCACAF Champions League: Club America, Goats (Who Knock Out Sounders) Advance To Semifinals

Two games were on tap for Wednesday as the CONCACAF Champions League's quarterfinal round closed.

At Panama City, Panama:

Henry Martin scored twice (6', 19') as Club America defeated Tauro FC 3-1 on the road in game two and polished off the Panamanian club 7-1 on aggregate.

At Guadalajara, Mexico:

Oswaldo Alanis (50'), Eduardo Lopez (55'), and Jose Godinez (80') each scored once in the second half as Chivas de Guadalajara erupted for the three second-half tallies to overpower the visiting Seattle Sounders 3-0 in game two of their quarterfinal series and ousted the MLS club 3-1 on aggregate.

CONCACAF Champions League: Red Bulls, TFC Knock Off Mexican Competition, Advance To Semifinals

The second half of the CONCACAF Champions League's quarterfinal round commenced on Tuesday with two game.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Tyler Adams (28'), Marc Rzatkowski (70'), and Alejandro Romero Gamarra (76') each scored once as the New York Red Bulls defeated Club Tijuana 3-1 at home in game two and won their two-match series with the Mexican club 5-1 on aggregate.

At San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico:

Sebastian Giovinco scored what proved to be the series-winning goal in the 73rd minute as Toronto FC, despite dropping a 3-2 game-two road decision, knocked out Tigres on away goals with the aggregate score at 4-4.

CONCACAF Champions League: Reds, Sounders Take Series Openers

The CONCACAF Champions League's quarterfinal round reached its midway point with two Wednesday contests.

At Toronto:

Jozy Altidore (60') and Jonathan Saborio (89') each scored once as Toronto FC came from behind to defeat visiting Tigres 2-1 in their series-opening match.

At Seattle:

Clint Dempsey scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute as the Seattle Sounders took the opening contest of their series with Chivas de Guadalajara 1-0 at home.

CONCACAF Champions League: America, Red Bulls Take Series Openers As Quarterfinals Open

The quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF Champions League opened on Tuesday with two games.

At Mexico City:

Joe Corona (19'), Henry Martin (41'), Cecilio Dominguez (79'), and Andres Ibarguen (81') each scored once as Club America demolished visiting Tauro FC 4-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.


At Tijuana, Mexico:

Bradley Wright-Phillips scored twice (9', 67') while goalkeeper Luis Robles made 13 (!) saves as the New York Red Bulls knocked off Club Tijuana 2-0 on the road in game one of their two-match series.

CONCACAF Champions League: Red Bulls, Sounders Advance To Quarterfinals

The opening round of the CONCACAF Champions League concluded on Thursday with two games.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Bradley Wright-Phillips (54') and Sean Davis (64') each scored once as the New York Red Bulls blanked visiting CD Olimpia 2-0 in game two and ousted the Honduran club 3-1 on aggregate.

At Seattle:

Second-half goals by Will Bruin (47'), Nicolas Lodeiro (69'), Chad Marshall (81'), and Magnus Wolf Eikrem (83') each scored a second-half goal as the Seattle Sounders overturned their series-opening defeat with a 4-0 game-two home beat-down of Santa Tecla and ousted the Salvadorian club 5-2 on aggregate.

CONCACAF Champions League: Goats, America, Tauro (Who Knock Out FC Dallas) Advance To Quarterfinals

Three games were on the CONCACAF Champions League's first-round agenda for Wednesday.

At Guadalajara, Mexico:

Oswaldo Alanis opened the scoring in the 46th minute as Chivas de Guadalajara scored all of their goals in the second half en route to a 5-0 plundering of visiting Cibao FC in game two as the Goats completed their two-match domination of the club from the Dominican Republic 7-0 on aggregate.

At Frisco, Texas:

Edwin Aguilar (15') and Jesus Gonzalez (44') each scored a goal as Panama's Tauro FC, despite dropping a game-two 3-2 road decision to FC Dallas, still (with the aggregate score at 3-3) won their series on away goals.

At Mexico City:

Darwin Quintero scored in the opening minute as Club America, with a 1-1 game-two home draw with Deportivo Saprissa, won their series with the Costa Rican club 6-2 on aggregate.

CONCACAF Champions League: Reds, Tigres, Aztec Dogs Advance To Quarterfinals

The second half of the opening round of this year's CONCACAF Champions League is set to open with three games.

At San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico:

Enner Valencia scored twice (49', 79') as Tigres defeated visiting Herediano 3-1 in game two and eliminated the Costa Rican club 5-3 on aggregate.

At Toronto:

A 0-0 game-two home stalemate was good enough for Toronto FC as the Reds ousted the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on aggregate.

At Tijuana, Mexico:

Jose Alberto Garcia scored in the fifth minute as Club Tijuana gained a 1-1 game two home draw with Motagua and won their series 2-1 on aggregate.

The opening round of the CONCACAF Champions League   reached its midway point on Thursday with three games.

At Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic:

Jesus Sanchez Garcia (40') and Jose Juan Macias (90'+2) each scored once as Chivas de Guadalajara blanked Cibao FC 2-0 on the road in their series-opening match.

At Santa Tacla, El Salvador:

Gerson Mayen scored twice (67', PK-76') as Santa Tacla knocked off the visiting Seattle Sounders 2-1 in the opening contest of their two-game series.

At San Jose, Costa Rica (due to political instability in Honduras):

Brayan Moya's goal from a successful penalty kick in the 73rd minute enabled Honduras' CD Olimpia to gain a 1-1 series-opening draw with the New York Red Bulls.

Daniel Royer scored in the 31st minute for the only US-based club not to lose their series opener.

The opening round of the CONCACAF Champions League continued on Wednesday with three games.


At Panama City, Panama:

Edwin Aguilar scored the only goal of the match in the 57th minute as Tauro FC defeated visiting FC Dallas 1-0 in the opening contest of their two-game series.

At San Jose, Costa Rica:

Cecelio Dominguez (2', 45') and Mateus Uribe (35', 79') each scored twice as Club America clubbed Deportivo Saprissa 5-1 on the road in the opening contest of their series.

At Edinburg, Texas (due to political instability in Honduras):

Ignacio Rivero scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute as Mexico's Club Tijuana knocked off Honduras' FC Motagua 1-0 in the opening game of their two-match series.

CONCACAF Champions League: Frantic Comeback Enables Herediano To Gain A Series-Opening Home Draw With Tigres; TFC Blank Rapids On Road

Two games were played on Tuesday as the CONCACAF Champions League opened in earnest.

At Heredia, Costa Rica:

Yendrick Ruiz (PK-90') and Jairo Arrieta (90'+3) each scored once in the final minutes as Herediano overcame a two-goal deficit to salvage a series-opening 2-2 draw with Tigres.

Francisco Meza (15') and Lucas Zalarayan (59') each delivered a goal for the Mexican club.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Jonathan Osorio (55') and Sebastian Giovinco (73') each scored once as Toronto FC blanked the Colorado Rapids 2-0 on the road in their series-opening match in what you might were ultra chilly conditions at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
