The opening round of the CONCACAF Champions League reached its midway point on Thursday with three games.
At Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic:
Jesus Sanchez Garcia (40') and Jose Juan Macias (90'+2) each scored once as Chivas de Guadalajara blanked Cibao FC 2-0 on the road in their series-opening match.
At Santa Tacla, El Salvador:
Gerson Mayen scored twice (67', PK-76') as Santa Tacla knocked off the visiting Seattle Sounders 2-1 in the opening contest of their two-game series.
At San Jose, Costa Rica (due to political instability in Honduras):
Brayan Moya's goal from a successful penalty kick in the 73rd minute enabled Honduras' CD Olimpia to gain a 1-1 series-opening draw with the New York Red Bulls.
Daniel Royer scored in the 31st minute for the only US-based club not to lose their series opener.
