AFC Champions League: It's Urawa Reds vs. Al-Hilal For The Marbles

At Guangzhou, China:

Shinzo Koroki scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute on Wednesday as Urawa Red Diamonds knocked off Guangzhou Evergrande 1-0 on the road in the second game of their AFC Champions League semifinal series, which the Japanese club won 3-0 on aggregate to represent the East Region in the tournament's two-match final against Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal.

The opening match of the final will take place at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 9 with the return contest to be played at Saitama, Japan on November 24.

AFC Champions League

At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Salem Al-Dawsari (13') and Bafetimbi Gomis (25') each scored once in the first half-hour on Tuesday as Al-Hilal, despite dropping a 4-2 game-two home decision to Al-Sadd, still won their AFC Champions League semifinal series 6-5 on aggregate.

The Saudi club will represent the West Region in the two-match AFC Champions League final in November against the winner of the Guangzhou Evergrande-Urawa Red Diamond series, with the Japanese club leads 2-0 on aggregate.

In Wednesday final game of the AFC Champions League's quarterfinal round, Anderson Talisca scored the series-winning goal in the 40th minute as Guangzhou Evergrande gained a 1-1 game-two road draw with Kashima Antlers and won their series with the Japanese club on away goals (with the aggregate score at 1-1).

Two games were contested on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the AFC Champions League.

WEST REGION:

At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Andre Carrillo (44'), Salem Al Dawsari (48'), and Sebastian Giovinco (78') each scored once as Al-Hilal downed visiting Al-Ittihad 3-1 in game two of an all-Saudi series won by the hosts by that same score on aggregate.



EAST REGION:

At Saitama, Japan:

Yan Junling's own goal in the 39th minute proved decisive, enabling Urawa Red Diamonds to gain a 1-1 game-two home draw with Shanghai SIPG and win their series with the Chinese club on away goals with the aggregate score at 3-3.

Hulk converted two second-half penalty kicks (49', 71') as Shanghai SIPG came back from two goals down to gain a series-opening 2-2 home draw with Urawa Red Diamonds.

Tomoaki Makino (3') and Shinzo Koroki (30') each scored once for the Japanese club.



WEST REGION:

At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:

In the opening match of an all-Saudi series, Al-Ittihad and visiting Al-Hilal battled to a 0-0 stalemate.

Akram Afif (20'), Abdelkarim Hassan (34'), and Ahmed Yasser (OG-90'+1) each scored once as Al-Sadd defeated visiting Al-Duhail 3-1 in game two and won this all-Qatari series 4-2 on aggregate.

At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

At Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:

Giuliano Victor de Paula scored twice (45'+1, 62') as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Wahda 3-2 on the road in game two and won their series 4-3 on aggregate.

At Doha, Qatar (due to ongoing deteriorating of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia):

Romarinho scored twice (64', 70') as Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia defeated Iran's Zob Ahan 4-3 in game two and won their series 6-4 on aggregate.

At Al Wakrah, Qatar:

In the opening contest of an all-Qatari series, Youssef Msakni's goal in the 44th minute enabled Al-Duhail to gain a 1-1 home draw with Al-Sadd.

Akram Afif scored for the visitors in the 30th minute.

At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:

In game one of an all-Saudi series, Bafetimbi Gomis produced a hat trick (15', 48', 65') as Al-Hilal doubled up Al-Ahli 4-2 on the road.

At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Leonardo da Silva Sousa's equalizer in the 53rd minute carried Al-Wahda to a series-opening 1-1 road draw with Al-Nassr.

Abdo Hamdallah scored for the hosts in the 17th minute.

At Dubai, United Arab Emirates (due to ongoing deteriorating relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran):

Ziyadh Al-Sahafi scored the game winner in the 71st minute as Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia held off Iran's Zob Ahan 2-1 in their series-opening contest.

AFC Champions League: Red Diamonds, Shanghai SIPG Advance To Quarterfinals

The round of 16 in the AFC Champions League continued on Wednesday with two East Asian Region contests.

At Ulsan, South Korea:

Shinzo Koroki scored twice (41', 80') as the Urawa Red Diamonds dominated Ulsan Hyundai 3-0 on the road in game two and won their series 4-2 on aggregate.

At Jeonju, China:

After a 1-1 regulation draw in game two that deadlocked the series at 2-2 on aggregate, followed by 30 minutes of goal-free overtime, Hulk, Elkeson, Odil Ahmedov, Wang Shenchao, and Oscar converted their spot kicks as China's Shanghai SIPG defeated Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 5-4 on the road in the penalty-kick shootout.

AFC Champions League: Antlers, Guangzhou Evergrande Advance To Quarterfinals

The AFC Champions League's round of 16 resumed on Tuesday with two games in the East Asian Region.

At Hiroshima, Japan:

Shoma Doi scored twice (33', 89') as Kashima Antlers, despite dropping a 3-2 game-two road decision to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, won their series with their fellow Japanese club on away goals with the aggregate score at 3-3.

At Jinan, China:

Despite dropping 2-1 regulation decision in game two of their series with Shandong Luneng, which deadlocked this all-Chinese series at 3-3 on aggregate, and after which each club scored once in overtime, Guangzhou Evergrande won the penalty-kick shootout 6-5 as Wei Shihao, Gao Lin, Yang Liyu, Paulinho, Zhang Linpeng, and Zhong Yihao all converted their spot kicks.

At Saitama, Japan:

Hwang Il-su scored the game winner in the 80th minute as Ulsan Hyundai knocked off Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1 on the road in the opening game of their two-match series.

At Shanghai, China:

Wang Shenchao's equalizer in the 39th minute enabled Shanghai SIPG to salvage a series-opening draw with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Moon Seon-min scored in the opening minute for the South Korean club.

In the opening game of a two-game all-Japanese series, Serginho scored the winning goal in the 24th minute as Kashima Antlers defeated visiting Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0.

At Guangzhou, China:

Zheng Zheng's own goal proved decisive in the 80th minute as Guangzhou Evergrande defeated visiting Shandong Luneng 2-1 in game one of an all-Chinese series.

At Doha, Qatar (due to deteriorating relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia):

In Wednesday's finale of the AFC Champions League's group stage, a Group A contest that was postponed from May 21 due to security concerns, Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr and Iran's Zob Ahan battled to a 0-0 stalemate as both clubs had already clinched berths in the knockout stage.

Final Group A Standings:

2. Al-Nassr (GP: 6; GD; +4; PTS: 10)

At Kashima, Japan:

Sho Ito scored twice in a two-minute second-half span (68', 70') as Kashima Antlers upended visiting Shandong Luneng 2-1 to seal a berth in the knockout stage.
