MARINERS FOIL UPSTART WANDERERS BID FOR CROWN

At Sydney, Australia:

Patrick Zwaanswijk (44') and Daniel McBreen (PK-68') each delivered a goal this past Sunday as the Central Coast Mariners knocked off the Western Sydney Wanderers 2-0 to win the Hyundai A-League's Grand Final.

Daniel McBreen delivered a hat trick (PK-39', 65', 67') while Tom Rogic added a double (16', 62') as the Central Coast Mariners demolished visiting Sydney FC 7-2 in Saturday Hyundai A-League action.

Late Goal Denies Sky Blues Road Win

Troy Hearfield's stoppage time goal (90'+1) enabled the Hyundai A-League-leading Central Coast Mariners to gain a 1-1 Saturday home draw with Sydney FC, whose goal came courtesy of Joel Chianese in the 56th minute.

Oliver Bozanic scored the only goal of the match in the 9th minute on Sunday as the Central Coast Mariners tightened their hold on top spot in the Hyundai A-League standings after handing hosts Sydney FC their third straight loss, 1-0.

Patrick Zwaanswijk (41'), Michael McGlinchey (66'), and Troy Hearfield (82') each scored once as the Central Coast Mariners raced to a three goal lead on the road, only to hang on for a 3-2 win over Sydney FC in Saturday A-League action.

BRISBANE ROARS BACK TO CAPTURE A-LEAGUE CROWN

At Brisbane, Australia:


Following a scoreless regulation on Sunday, and trailing 2-0 after the first overtime period, Henrique (117') and Eric Paartalu (120') scored in the second overtime period for the Brisbane Roar to force the penalty kick shootout of their Hyundai A-League Grand Final match with the Central Coast Mariners.  


In the shootout, Ivan Franjic, Erik Paartalu, Matt McKay, and , with the winning shot, Henrique all converted their penalty kicks, while goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos saved attempts by the Mariners' Daniel McBreen and Predrag Bojic as the Roar took the shootout 4-2 and won their first Grand Final title.

Mariners Erase Two-Goal Deficit To Salvage Home Draw

At Gasford, New South Wales, Australia:

Patrick Perez (49') and Matthew Simon (57') provided the second-half scoring that enabled the Central Coast Mariners to come back from a two-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 home draw on Sunday with Sydney FC in the Hyundai A-League.  Dimitri Petratos provided both of the Sydney goals at 17 and 28 minutes.

In Saturday Hyundai A-League action, Adam Kwasnik scored twice in the first half (1', 23') as the Central Coast Mariners delivered a 4-0 frontier-styled fist beating to visiting FC Sydney. 

Ten-Man Sydney FC Settle For 1-1 Home Draw

Patricio Perez converted on a penalty kick at 73 minutes to enable the Central Coast Mariners to gain a 1-1 road draw on Saturday with ten-man Sydney FC in A-League action.  The struggling hosts' goal came at 47 minutes from Rhyan Grant.
