EL TRI PROVE TOO MUCH FOR REGGAE BOYZ, WIN SEVENTH CONCACAF GOLD CUP BERTH; WILL PLAY TEAM USA IN PLAYOFF FOR CONFEDERATIONS CUP BERTH
At Philadelphia:
Andres Guardado (31', that's him celebrating here), Jesus Corona (47'), and Oribe Peralta (61') each scored a goal on Sunday as Mexico won their seventh CONCACAF Gold Cup title 3-1 over Jamaica.
The largely pro-Mexican crowd of 68,930 at Lincoln Financial Field was the largest to see a soccer match in the City of Brotherly Love.
El Tri will take on the United States (who won this tournament in 2013) in a one-game playoff for the CONCACAF berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The match is slated to take place on Friday, October 9 on American soil at a venue which would be announced on Monday.

AT LAST: TEAM USA KNOCKS OFF MEXICO----IN MEXICO

Michael Orozco Pascal scored the only goal of the match in the 80th minute on Wednesday night as the United States defeated Mexico 1-0 in an exhibition match. It was the Americans' first-ever win over their arch-rivals on Mexican soil after 75 years of trying. Goalkeeper Tim Howard made three saves in preserving the shutout and victory.

OLYMPIC GOLD FOR EL TRI, 2-1 WINNERS OVER BRAZIL

Oribe Peralta scored twice (1' [shown here], 75') as Mexico held off Brazil 2-1 on Saturday in the Olympic men's soccer gold medal game at Wembley Stadium. The gold medal is Mexico's first (in fact, El Tri's first men's soccer Olympic medal, period) while Brazil still await their first (the Samba Boys are 0-3 in gold medal finals overall).
