MLS Is Back Tournament: Ten-Man DC Battle Back To Gain Draw With Reds; LAFC And Dynamo Draw; Ten-Man Timbers Hold Off

Three games were on the Monday MLS Is Back Tournament docket at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Bay Lake, Florida.

GROUP C:

Federico Higuain (84') and Frederic Brillian (90'+1) each scored once as DC United, who played the entire second half with ten men, came back from two goals down to gain a 2-2 draw with Toronto FC in a contest that was rescheduled from Sunday.

Ayo Akinola scored both of the Reds' goals in the 12th and 44th minutes.

Group C Standings:

1. New England (GP: 1; GD: +1; PTS: 3)
2. Toronto FC (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
3. DC United (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
4. Montreal (GP: 1; GD: -1; PTS: 0)

NOTE:  With Toronto FC and DC United level on points (1), wins (0), goal differential (0), and total goals (1), the Reds have fewer disciplinary points than DC (10, compared to 27).



GROUP F:

In the first of two games from Group F, Bradley Wright-Phillips (19'), Diego Rossi (63'), and Brian Rodriguez (69') each scored once as the Los Angeles Football Club battled back from two goals down to gain a 3-3 draw with the Houston Dynamo.

Memo Rodriguez scored twice (9', 30') and Albeth Elis once (45'+5) in the first half for the Dynamo.

In the final Monday contest, Jeremy Ebobisse (59') and Sebastian Blanco (66') delivered the goals as the Portland Timbers, despite finishing the match with ten men, held off the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1.

Javier Chicharito Hernandez scored his first Major League Soccer goal in the 88th minute for the lone Galaxy tally.
