FIFA World Cup Qualifying (CONCACAF): Team USA, Ticos Gain Raod Draws At Panama and Honduras Respectively; El Tri Down Soca Warriors In Port Of Spain

Three games were on the Tuesday schedule as the hexagonal round of CONCACAF-regional qualifying for next year's FIFA World Cup continued.

At San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

Kendall Waston's equalizer in the 68th minute lifted Costa Rica to a 1-1 road draw with Honduras.  Anthony Lozano scored for the hosts in the 35th minute.

At Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago:

Diego Reyes scored the only goal of the match in the 58th minute to carry Mexico to a 1-0 road win over Trinidad and Tobago.

At Panama City, Panama:

Gabriel Gomez delivered the equalizer in the 43rd minute as Panama salvaged a 1-1 road draw with the United States.  Clint Dempsey scored for the Americans in the 39th minute.

CAF Champions League: First Round Ends

Nine games were contested on Sunday as the first round of the CAF Champions League concluded.

At Abidjan, Ivory Coast:

Etoile du Sahel defeated AS Tanda 2-1 on the road in game two as the Tunisian club won their series 5-1 on aggregate.

At Conakry, Guinea:

Despite dropping a 2-1 game-two road decision to Horoya, Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis still won their series 4-3 on aggregate.

At Monrovia, Liberia:

After Barrack Young Controllers blanked visiting Ferroviario Beira 2-0 in regulation in game two to square their two-game series at 2-2 on aggregate, and with overtime dispensed with, the visiting club from Mozambique won the penalty-kick shootout 4-1 to advance to the group stage.

At Enugu, Nigeria:

Despite dropping a 2-1 game-two road decision to Enugu Rangers, Zamalek won their series with the Nigerian club 5-3 on aggregate.

At Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo:

AS Vita Club blanked the visiting Gambia Ports Authority 2-0 in game two and closed out their series 3-1 on aggregate.

At Johannesburg, South Africa:

A 0-0 game-two road draw with Bidvest Wits enabled Al-Ahly to win their two-game series 1-0 on aggregate.

At Harare, Zimbabwe:

CAF Champions League

The first round of the CAF Champions League resumed on Saturday with seven games.

At Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso:

Despite dropping a 1-0 game-two road decision to Rail Club du Kadiogo, Algeria's USM Alger still won their series 2-1 on aggregate and advanced to the group stage.

At Omdurman, Sudan:

In their best Barcelona vs. PSG fashion, Al-Merrikh overcame their series-opening 3-0 road defeat with a 4-0 home demolition of Rivers United in game two and upended the Nigerian club 4-3 on aggregate.

At Rabat, Morocco:

Despite dropping a 3-1 game-two road decision to FUS Rabat, Al-Ahli Tripoli, with the aggregate score at 3-3, advanced to the group stage on away goals.

At Kampala, Uganda:

A 1-1 road draw in game two against the Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club lifted Mamelodi Sundowns to a 3-2 series victory on aggregate.  Anthony Laffor scored for the South African club in the 81st minute to secure Sundowns passage to the group stage.

At Liberville, Gabon:

After FC Mounana gained a 1-0 home decision in game two against Wydad Casablanca which squared the series at 1-1 on aggregate, and with overtime dispensed with, the Moroccan club won the penalty-kick shootout 5-4 to advance to the group stage.

At Lusaka, Zambia:

Despite being held to a 0-0 game-two home stalemate by Tanzania's Young Africans, Zanaco, with the aggregate score at 1-1, advanced on away goals.

At Antananarivo, Madagascar:

A 1-1 game-two road draw with CNaPS Sport in game two enabled Cameroon's Coton Sport to win their series 2-1 on aggregate.

Dominic Oduro's equalizer in the 68th minute lifted the Montreal Impact to a 1-1 road draw with New York City.  Rodney Wallace scored for the Citizens in the 44th minute.

At Atlanta:

Josef Martinez scored twice (60', 82') as Atlanta United demolished the visiting Chicago Fire 4-0.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Victor Vazquez (76') and Jozy Altidore (80') each scored twice late in the game as Toronto FC blanked the ten-man Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 on the road.

At Washington:

Successfully-converted penalty kicks from Federico Higuain (38') and Ola Kamara (66') propelled the Columbus Crew to a 2-0 road blanking of struggling DC United.

At Orlando, Florida:

Cyle Larin scored twice (39', 73') as Orlando City defeated the visiting Philadelphia Union 2-1.

At Frisco, Texas:

Maximiliano Urruti scored twice (71', 77') as FC Dallas came from behind to upend the visiting New England Revolution 2-1.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Benny Feilhaber (37') and David Bingham (OG-89') provided the scoring that carried Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 home victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Kevin Molino (PK-50') and Christian Ramirez (58') each scored once as Minnesota United collected their first MLS point by gaining a 2-2 road draw with the Colorado Rapids.  Dominique Badji (17') and Marlon Hairston (59') each scored once for the hosts.

At Sandy, Utah:

Dave Romney (69') and Emmanuel Boateng (74') each scored a second-half goal five minutes apart as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated ten-man Real Salt Lake 2-1 on the road.

At Portland, Oregon:

Diego Valeri scored twice (PK-11', 58') while David Guzman (66') and Fanendo Adi (88') each added a tally as the Portland Timbers overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit by overcoming the visiting Houston Dynamo 2-1 to start the season with three straight wins.

OFC Champions League: Group Stage Concludes

Four games were played on Saturday as group-stage play in the OFC Champions League came to a close.

GROUP C:

Both games were played at Mangere Centre Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

In the opener, Benjamin Totori scored the winning goal in the 65th minute as Western United (Solomon Islands) defeated Lae City Dwellers (Papua New Guinea) 5-3 in the tournament finale for both squads.

In the nightcap, Ryan De Vries delivered a quadruple (7', 45', 68', 76') while Joao Moreira added a hat trick (41', 53', 59') and Micah Lea'alafa a double (31', 33') as Auckland City, which had already locked up the Group C title and a berth in the semifinal round, nuked Vanuatu's Malampa Revivors 11-0.

Final Group C Standings:

1. Auckland City (GP: 3; GD: +14; PTS: 9)
2. Western United (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 6)
3. Lae City Dwellers (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 3)

Both games were contested at Pater Stadium in Pirae, Tahiti.

In the opener, Iosefo Verevou scored the winning goal in the 31st minute as Rewa from Fuji defeated Eraktor Golden Star 2-1, knocking the club from Vanuatu out of the tournament.

In the nightcap, Jonathan Tehau (23') and Michael Boso (OG-39') each scored a goal as Tahiti's AS Tefana gained a 1-1 draw with the Marist Fire to lock up the Group D title and a berth in the semifinals.  Guilherme Guedes scored twice (44', PK-90') for club from the Solomon Islands who came back from two goals down for the draw but still lost out on advancing to the semifinal round.

2. Marist Fire (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)

CONCACAF Champions League: Hoops Top Pachuca In Semifinal Series Opener

Maximiliano Urruti (44') and Kellyn Acosta (58') each scored once on Wednesday as FC Dallas defeated visiting Pachuca 2-1 in the opening game of their CONCACAF Champions League semifinal-series series.  Franco Jara scored for the Mexican club in the third minute.

UEFA Champions League: Monaco, Atletico Advance To Quarterfinals

Two games were contested on Wednesday as the UEFA Champions League's Round of 16 came to a close.

At Fontvieille, Monaco:

Kylian Mbappe (8'), Fabinho (29'), and Tiemoue Bakayoko (77') each scored once as AS Monaco defeated visiting Manchester City 3-1 in game two and, with the aggregate score at 6-6, won the series with the English club on away goals.  Here we see the cheering Monaco fans at Louis II Stadium.

At Madrid:

Four games were played on Tuesday and Wednesday in OFC Champions League group-stage action.

Two Tuesday games were contested at Pater Stadium in Pirae, Tahiti.

In the opener, Tony Kaltack scored twice (38', 85') as Erakor Golden Star (Vanuatu) defeated Marist Fire 2-1.  Despite the victory, the club from Vanuatu was still eliminated from contention.

In the nightcap, AS Tefana, from the host country, with goals courtesy of Stanley Atani (45') and Viritua Tiaiho (76'), knocked Fiji's Rewa out of the tournament 2-0.

In the nightcap, Clayton Lewis scored twice (44', 61') as Auckland City locked up the Group C title and a berth in the semifinal round by blanking Papua New Guinea's Lae City Dwellers 2-0.

CONCACAF Champions League: Tigres Blank Visiting Whitecaps In Semifinal Opener

At San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico:

Kendall Waston (OG-66') and Eduardo Vargas (87') each scored a goal on Tuesday as Tigres blanked the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 in the opening contest of their two-game CONCACAF Champions League semifinal series.

Copa Libertadores: Botafogo, Barcelona (NOT That One), Melgar Grab Tuesday Home Wins

Two more games were played on Tuesday with the resumption of the UEFA Champions League's Round of 16.

At Turin, Italy:

Paulo Dybala's successfully-converted penalty kick in the 42nd minute produced the game's lone goal as Juventus defeated visiting ten-man FC Porto 1-0 in game two and ousted the Dragons 3-0 on aggregate.  That's ol' Paulo here, celebrating after converting his spot kick.

At Leicester, England:

Wes Morgan (27') and Marc Albrighton (54') provided the goals as Leicester City overcame their series-opening defeat in Spain with a 2-0 home blanking of Sevilla in game two and knocked out the Spanish club 3-2 on aggregate.  Here are the happy Foxes celebrating their series victory which will land them in the quarterfinal round.

At Ahvaz, Iran:

Esteghlal Khuzestan played visiting Lekhwiya battled to a 1-1 stalemate.  Hassan Beit Saeid scored for the hosts in the eighth minute by successfully converting a penalty kick, but Ismail Mohamad equalized for the Qatari club in the 11th minute.

At Al-Hasa, Saudi Arabia:

Ali Al Zaqan scored twice (12', 50') as Al-Fateh defeated visiting Al-Jazira 3-1.
