English League Championship Season Opens

Two teams freshly relegated from the Premiership, West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City, opened the League Championship (one step below the Premiership) regular season with wins, in hopes of winning quick promotion back to the big league. The Baggies blanked Hull City 2-0, while the Blues downed Colchester 2-1. Details of the Saturday League Championship action here. As for the English Premier League, action opens on August 17.
