At Amsterdam on Wednesday, an own goal from Ajax Amsterdam's Belgian defenseman Thomas Vermaelan in the 77th minute enabled FC Copenhagen to bounce back from losing their two-game series opener at home (2-1) to knock Ajax out of the UEFA Champions League (and into the UEFA Cup) by winning 3-2 on aggregate after winning the match 2-0.
