Action resumed in Italy on Sunday after last weekend's postponements in the wake of the deadly rioting that took place in Catania. Many stadiums were deemed by the Italian government as not up to new security standards, forcing several scheduled matches to be played behind closed doors.
Ten games were played Sunday afternoon in Serie A (no night games will be allowed for the time being, this being another safety and securtiy measure):
At Verona:
Goals from Adriano (1') and Hernan Crespo (51') lifted league-leading Inter Milan to a 2-0 road win over Chievo Verona for their 15th consecutive league victory.
At Milan:
AC Milan, thanks to goals from Gennaro Gattuso (29') and Marek Jankulovski (68'), defeated visiting Livorno 2-1 to move within two points of a Champions League berth.
