Second-half goals from Kevin Kuranyi (64') and Peter Lovenkrands (75') lifted FC Schalke 04 to a 2-0 home victory over Hertha Berlin, thus allowing the Royal Blues to stretch their Bundesliga lead over Werder Bremen (who lost to VfB Stuttgart) to six points.
At Stuttgart:
Four different goal scorers lifted third-place VfB Stuttgart to within one point of second place as the hosts smothered Werder Bremen 4-1.

In a battle that saw both teams now sitting in the drop zone, Alemania Aaachen and homestanding Borussia Mochengladbach battled to a 0-0 stalemate.
At Hamburg:
Basement-dwelling Hamburg SV picked up their first home league win of the season (and first league overall since late last October), whitewashing Borussia Dortmund 3-0. Rafael van der Vaart (PK-11'), Collin Benjamin (39'), and Mehdi Mahdavikia (90') provided the scoring for HSV.
