O-League Already Under Way

The 2009-10 Oceania Football Confederation's Champions League, referred to as the O-League began group stage play back on October 17.

GROUP A:

At Auckland, New Zealand:

Daniel Koprivcic's second-half hat trick (69', 80', PK-90+1') completed an show of offensive firepower as defending tournament champions Auckland City FC blasted AS Manu-Ura from Tahiti 5-0 on October 17.

At Noumea, New Caledonia:

Aaron Scott's own goal at 78 minutes canceled out teammate Brent Fisher's tally (37') as AS Magenta came back to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Waitakere United FC from New Zealand this past Saturday.

GROUP A STANDINGS:

1. Auckland City FC (GP: 1; GD: +5; PTS: 3)
2. Waitakere United FC (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 10
3. AS Magenta (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
4. AS Manu-Ura (GP: 1; GD: -5; PTS: 0)

Group B:

At Port Vila, Vanuatu:

In action from October 17, Papua New Guinea's PRK Hekari United managed to gain a 3-3 road stalemate with hosts Tafea FC. The visitors got goals from Kema Jack (40', 42') and Benjamin Mela (50'), while the hosts got their own tallies, courtesy of Silas Namatak (1'), Robert Tom (34'), and Francois Sakama (45').

At Honiara, Solomon Islands:

In action from October 18, Kamal Hassan (14'), Samuela Kautoga (20'), and Nahuel Arrart (90'+2) provided the goalpower that carried Lautoka FC from Fiji to defeat Marist FC on the road, 3-1.

GROUP B STANDINGS:

1. Lautoka FC (GP: 1; GD: +2; PTS: 3)
2. PRK Hekari United (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
3. Tafea FC (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)

Group stage play will resume on November 7 and 8. The top team in each group, after six games, would advance to the two-legged final.
