MLS: DCU ,Crew, Red Bulls Post Shutout Wins; Sounders and Philly Draw, Likewise Whitecaps and Goats

Five games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.


At Chester, Pennsylvania:


Alvaro Fernandez scored a late equalizer (90'+1) as the Seattle Sounders came back to gain a 1-1 road draw with the Philadelphia Union.  Carlos Ruiz scored for the hosts at 32 minutes.


At Toronto:


Chris Pontius scored twice (4', 77') while Charlie Davies added one (9') in his first MLS start as DC United dominated hosts Toronto FC 3-0.


At Vancouver, British Columbia:


Chivas USA and home standing Vancouver Whitecaps FC battled to a 0-0 stalemate.  The Goats remain the only club in MLS without a win.


At Columbus, Ohio:


Robbie Rogers provided the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute as the Columbus Crew, with Will Hesmer making three saves, blanked visiting Sporting Kansas City 1-0.


At Harrison, New Jersey:


Luke Rodgers scored twice (1', 15') while Thierry Henry added another goal for good measure (86') as the New York Red Bulls delivered a 3-0 home fist beating to the San Jose Earthquakes.
