UCL: Champs On The Ropes; Spurs, Too

The Quarterfinal round of the UEFA Champions League commenced on Tuesday with the opening games of two two-game series.


At Milan, Italy:


Joy for Schalke after Joel Matip (second left) brought them back level at 1-1.


Joel Matip (17', pictured here), Edu (40', 75'), and Raul (53') provided scoring power as Schalke 04 came back from an early deficit to stun Inter Milan 5-2 on the road in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Madrid:


Peter Crouch fells Marcelo, leading to a second yellow card


Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice (4', 57') as Real Madrid demolished visiting Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in game one of their two-match series.  Spurs ended with the match with ten men after Peter Crouch (pictured here) was ejected in the 15th minute after tripping Marcelo.
