UCL: Wayne Roooney's Goal And Edwin van der Saar's Saves Carry Red Devils In Series Opener; Barca Way Too Much For Shakhtar

The remaining two series in the UEFA Champions League's quarterfinal round commenced on Wednesday.


At London:





Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the match at 24 minutes (pictured here) as Manchester United took game one of their two-game series with Chelsea 1-0 on the road.  Edwin van der Saar made seven saves for the Red Devils.

Five different goal scorers---Andres Iniesta (2'), Dani Alves (34', pictured here), Gerard Pique (53'), Seydou Keita (60'), and Xavi Hernandez (86')---each tallied once as Barcelona blasted Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in their series opener at home.
