Five games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.
At Harrison, New Jersey:
Tim Cahill's equalizer deep into second-half stoppage time (90'+7) enabled the New York Red Bulls to salvage a 2-2 home draw with the ten-man New England Revolution and lock up an Eastern Conference playoff berth (as well as keeping them on top in the race for the Supporters Shield). Six minutes before the Australian's equalizer, Diego Fagundez had scored to put the Revs in front.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Ike Opara scored the only goal of the match in the 17th minute as Sporting Kansas City defeated the Columbus Crew 1-0 on the road, crippling the Crew's playoff chances.
At Chester, Pennsylvania:
Kleberson scored the only goal of the match well into second-half stoppage time (90'+5) as the Philadelphia Union, despite finishing the game with ten men, defeated visiting Toronto FC 1-0.
At Sandy, Utah:
Kenny Cooper's 72nd-minute equalizer lifted FC Dallas to a 1-1 road draw with ten-man Real Salt Lake. Alvaro Saborino scored for the hosts (who still lead the Western Conference standings) in the 60th minute. Despite the road comeback, the Hoops are all but eliminated from postseason play.
At Commerce City, Colorado:
Deshorn Brown scored twice----with the first goal coming 14 seconds into the game, the second fastest goal in MLS history (he also scored in the 31st minute) as the Colorado Rapids hammered the visiting ten-man Seattle Sounders 5-1, ending the guests' seven-match unbeaten streak (and keeping them from taking over the Western Conference lead and clinching a playoff berth).
