At Belo Horizonte, Brazil:
Toni Kroos (24', 26') and Andre Schurrle (69', 79') each scored twice as Germany humiliated Brazil 7-1 in Tuesday's FIFA World Cup semifinal contest. Thomas Muller (11'), Miroslav Klose (23'; his sixteenth career World Cup goal made him the tournament's all-time leading goal scorer), and Sami Khedira (29') each added a goal to the Germans' coffers while Oscar scored the lone Brazilian goal in the 90th minute. The seven goals scored by the Germans was the most in a semifinal match.
The defeat was the first for Brazil in a competitive match on home soil since 1975. It is the first time since 1934 (against Yugoslavia) that the Samba Boys gave up seven goals in a game. Brazil had never given up more than three goals in a World Cup contest. A dejected David Luiz shows his frustration here.
Germany will face the winner of the Wednesday Argentina-Netherlands match in the championship game this coming Sunday at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium.
