At Cary, North Carolina:
Blas Perez delivered a hat trick (23', 34', 90') as FC Dallas broke open what was a 2-2 deadlock after 38 minutes and pulled away from the Carolina Railhawks (NASL) 5-2 on the road. The defeats suffered by Atlanta and Carolina emptied the tournament of non-Major League Soccer clubs.
At Tukwila, Washington:
Overtime goals from Kenny Cooper (111') and Marco Pappa (116') carried the Seattle Sounders to a 3-1 victory over the visiting ten-man Portland Timbers.
