At Portland:
Diego Valeri scored twice (44', 50') and Fanendo Adi one (64') as the Portland Timbers held off the visiting Seattle Sounders 3-1 in a Cascadia Cup clash as the Timbers stretched their in-league unbeaten run to nine matches.
At Montreal:
David Villa (35'), Jack Harrison (45'+2), and Frank Lampard (85') each scored once as New York City downed the Montreal Impact 3-1 on the road.
At Chester, Pennsylvania:
C. J. Sapong (PK-67') and Chris Pontius (68') each scored a second-half goal roughly a minute apart as the Philadelphia Union, despite being reduced to ten men, came back from two goals down to gain a 2-2 home draw with the New York Red Bulls. Sacha Kljestan (27', 44') delivered both of the Red Bulls' goals.
