2018 World Cup Qualifying (CONCACAF): Team USA Destroys SVG, Wind Up On Cusp Of Advanicng; Ticos, Panama, Soca Warriors Join El Tri In Hexagonal Round; Honduras On Cusp Of Advancing, Too; Canada All But Finished

The fourth round of CONCACAF regional qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup resumed on Friday with six games.

GROUP A:

At San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

Mario Martinez (45'+2) and Romell Quioto (50') each scored a goal as Honduras all but clinched a berth in the Hexagonal Round with a 2-1 home victory over Canada, all but eliminating the guests from contention.

At San Salvador, El Salvador:

Angel Sepulveda scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 58th minute as Mexico, who already had clinched a berth in the final qualifying round, defeated El Salvador 3-1 on the road and eliminated the hosts.

Group A Standings:

2.    Honduras (GP: 5; GD: 0; PTS: 7)

GROUP B:

At Port-au-Prince, Haiti:

Randall Azofeifa scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute as Costa Rica advanced to the Hexagonal Round with their 1-0 road victory over Haiti (who were eliminated).

At Panama City, Panama:

Gabriel Torres (28') and Abdiel Arroyo (90'+2) each scored twice as Panama blanked visiting Jamaica 2-0 and advanced to the Hexagonal Round, eliminating the Reggae Boyz in the process.

Group B Standings:

At Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines:

Christian Pulisic scored twice (71', 90'+2) as the United States scored thrice in each half and dismembered St. Vincent and the Grenadines 6-0 to all but salt away a berth in the Hexagonal Round.

At Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago:

Joevin Jones scored twice (45'+1, 62') as Trinidad and Tobago clinched a berth in the Hexagonal Round with a 1-1 home draw with Guatemala.  Carlos Ruiz scored twice (36', 87') for the visitors, who are all but eliminated.
