MLS: Sounders Douse Fire For First Win; Philly, RSL

Six Major League Soccer matches were contested on Saturday.

At Seattle:

O'Brian White (6') and Steve Zakuani (24') each scored once as the Seattle Sounders picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 home win over the Chicago Fire.



At Chester, Pennsylvania:


Roger Torres delivered the only goal of the match at 68 minutes as the Philadelphia Union continued their strong start to their second MLS campaign with a 1-0 home win over the New York Red Bulls.

At Washington:


Charlie Davies' successful penalty kick at 89 minutes lifted DC United to a 1-1 home draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy.  Mike Magee scored at 14 minutes for the visitors.



At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Real Salt Lake, thanks to goals delivered by Chris Schuler (30') and Paulo Araujo (48'), maintained their perfect start to the MLS season with a 2-0 road shutout triumph over the New England Revolution in a contest that saw RSL end the game with ten men and the Revs with nine.

At Carson, California:


The Columbus Crew held hosts Chivas USA to a 0-0 stalemate.



At Santa Clara, California:


Simon Dawkins' equalizer at 38 minutes salvaged a 1-1 home draw for the San Jose Earthquakes as they took on Toronto FC.  Alan Gordon scored for TFC at 27 minutes.
