At Rio de Janeiro:


Goals from Dede (OG-30') and Vicente Sanchez (45') enabled Club Nacional from Uruguay to hold off Vasco da Gama 2-1 on the road.


Group Six:


At Asuncion, Paraguay:


Javier Orozco scored twice (5', 28') as Cruz Azul defeated Club Nacional of Paraguay 2-1 on the road.
