Copa Libertadores: No Trouble For Valez Sarsfield; Fred's The Man As Fluminense Blank Arsenal (Not THAT One); Late Goal Salvages Home Draw For Goats

The group stage of the Copa Libertadores commenced on Tuesday with three games.

Group Four:

At Rio de Janeiro:


Fred goal in the 2nd minute proved enough as Fluminense defeated visiting Arsenal de Sarandi 1-0.

Group Seven:

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

David Ramirez (42'), Ivan Obolo (81'), and Sebastian Dominguez (85') each delivered a goal as Valez Sarsfield delivered a 3-0 beatdown to Defensor Sporting.

At Zapopan, Mexico:


Omar Arellano's stoppage time equalizer (90'+2) enabled Chivas de Guadalajara to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Deportivo Quito.  Matias Alustiza scored in the 7th minute for the visiting Ecuadorian club.
