At Lyon, France:
Antoine Griezmann (17') and Haris Seferovic (50') provided the scoring as Real Sociedad blanked Lyon 2-0 on the road in match one of their two-game series.
At Porto, Portugal:
Roman Shirokov delivered a hat trick (27', 60', 90') as Zenit Saint Petersburg found themselves 90 minutes away from the group stage of the Champions League following their series-opening 4-1 road beatdown of Pacos de Ferreira.
At Eindhoven, Netherlands:
Tim Matavz delivered the equalizer in the 60th minute as PSV Eindhoven salvaged a series-opening 1-1 home draw with AC Milan. Stephan El Shaarawy scored for the visiting Rossoneri in the 15th minute.
