Eddie Johnson scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute as the ten-man Seattle Sounders defeated the Columbus Crew 1-0 on the road.
At Chester, Pennsylvania:
The Montreal Impact held the home-standing Philadelphia Union to a 0-0 stalemate.
At Harrison, New Jersey:
Tim Cahill scored the winning goal in the 38th minute as the New York Red Bulls, despite finishing the match with ten men, held off visiting DC United 2-1. Goalkeeper Luis Robles preserved the victory when he saved Dwayne De Rosario's penalty kick in the 73rd minute.
At Kansas City, Kansas:
Graham Zusi scored the winning goal in the 88th minute as Scoring Kansas City defeated the visiting Colorado Rapids 2-1.
At Carson, California:
Robbie Keane had a hand in all three goals, scoring twice (PK-43', 67') and assisting once (Landon Donovan's goal in the 26th minute) as the Los Angeles Galaxy dominated the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 3-0.
