Justin Meram scored twice (52', 59') as the Columbus Crew broke open a contest that was scoreless at halftime and dominated visiting Chivas USA 3-0.
At Portland, Oregon:
Khalif Alhassan's equalizer in the 86th minute enabled the Portland Timbers to salvage a 3-3 home draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. Alvas Powell (54') and Liam Ridgewell (74') also delivered goals for the Timbers while Chris Wondolowski scored twice (11', 85') and Cordell Cato once (48') for the Quakes.
At Foxborough, Massachusetts:
Diego Fagundez (41') and Charlie Davies (60') each scored a goal as the New England Revolution came from behind to upend the visiting Chicago Fire 2-1.
