MLS Is Back Tournament: Caps Douse Fire To Advance To Knockout Stage; Galaxy and Dynamo Ousted After Draw (NYC FC Advance As Result); Timbers Draw With LAFC To Win Group F

At Bay Lake, Florida:

Three games were contested on Thursday as group-stage play in the MLS is Back Tournament concluded at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

GROUP B:

Yordy Reyna (65') and Cristian Dajome (71') produced the goals as the Vancouver Whitecaps advanced to the knockout stage following their 2-0 blanking of the now-eliminated Chicago Fire.

Final Group B Standings:

1. San Jose (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 7)
2. Seattle (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 4)
3. Vancouver (GP: 3; GD: -2; PTS: 3)
4. Chicago (GP: 3; GD: -3; PTS; 3)

San Jose, Seattle, and Vancouver advanced to the knockout stage with Chicago eliminated.



GROUP F:

Game #1:

Cristian Pavon's equalizer in the 90th minute lifted the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dynamo in which both clubs found themselves eliminated.

Darwin Quintero scored for the Dynamo in the 17th minute.

As a result of the draw, New York City advanced to the knockout stage.

Game #2:

Goals from Jaroslaw Niezgoda (7') and Jeremy Ebobisse (81') enabled the Portland Timbers to gain a 2-2 draw with the Los Angeles Football Club as the Timbers secured top spot in Group F following the finale of group-stage play.

Bradley Wright-Phillips (36') and Mark-Anthony Kaye (40') each scored once for the Angelinos, who, like Portland, had already locked up a berth in the knockout stage.

Final Group F Standings:

1. Portland (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 7)
2. Los Angeles Football Club (GP: 3; GD: +4; PTS: 5)
3. Houston (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 2)
4. Los Angeles Galaxy (GP: 3; GD: -5; PTS: 1)

Portland and the Los Angeles Football Club advanced to the knockout stage.
