Racing (Uruguay) gained a 2-2 road deadlock in game one of their two-match set with Atletico Junior. The guests got a goal each from Mathias Mirabajes (28') and Jose Ignacio Pallas (67'), while the hosts got a goal each from Emerson Acuna (12') and Martin Arzuega (90'+1).
The winner of this two-match series would be placed in Group One alongside Corinthians (Brazil), Cerro Porteno (Paraguay), and Independiente Medillin (Colombia).
