At La Paz, Bolivia:

Luis Mendez's own goal in the 82nd minute proved decisive as Atletico Mineiro grabbed a 2-1 road win over The Strongest.

Group Five:

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Alexandre Pato (27'), Paolo Guerrero (37'), and Paulinho (82') provided the scoring punch at Corinthians dominated visiting Club Tijuana 3-0.

Group Seven:

At Barquisimeto, Venezuela:

Wilson Pittoni scored twice (41', 47') as Club Olimpia ran roughshod over hosts Deportivo Lara 5-1.
