Bayer Leverkusen, on goals from Marko Babic (12') and Andriy Voronin (74'), blanked homestanding Borussia Mochengladbach 2-0.
At Bochum:
Mike Hanke provided the lone goal (25') in VfL Wolfsburg's 1-0 road win over VfL Bochum
At Cottbus:
Thanks to second-half goals from Daniel Gunkel (66') and Shao Jiayi (83'), newcomers Energie Cottbus knocked off Hertha Berlin at home, 2-0.
At Hamburg:
Visiting Hannover 96 and Hamburger SV battled to a 0-0 stalemate.
