Clint Dempsey Tally Leads Team USA Past Cuba

Qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup from the CONCACAF region continued Saturday:

At Havana, Cuba:

Clint Dempsey provided the only goal (40') of a match which saw the United States blank Cuba on the road 1-0.


At Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad

Carlo Gallardo Najera's second-half-stoppage-time equalizer lifted Guatemala to a 1-1 road draw against Trinidad & Tobago. Keon Daniel scored for the Trinidadians at 84 minutes.

At Montreal:

Ramon Nunez scored twice (47', 56') to lift Honduras to a come-from-behind 2-1 road win over Canada.

Froylan Ledezma's double (8', 41') was only the start of a major scoring barrage by Costa Rica as the hosts demolished Suriname 7-0.
