At Rome:

Jose Sarriegi scored the only goal of the match (69', pictured here) as Panathinaikos moved into second place in Group B with their 1-0 road win over Inter Milan. Despite the defeat the Nerozzurri advanced to the knockout stage.

At Nicosia, Cyprus:

Thanks to late second-half goals from Diego (PK-72') and Hugo Almeida (87'), Werder Bremen came back from a two-goal deficit to gain a 2-2 draw with Anorthosis Famagusta FC.
