Now, there are six cities bidding for two 2011 Major League Soccer expansion clubs.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber anounced this past Friday that the Montreal group, fronted by George Gillett, who is part owner of Liverpool FC as well as owner of the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens, have pulled the plug on their attempt to bring an MLS expansion club into Montreal due to economic problems.
Atlanta, Miami, Ottawa, Portland, St. Louis, and Vancouver are still in the running.
