Mana Iwabuchi scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute as Japan continued their defense of the World Cup title with their 1-0 victory over Australia.
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
Jodie Taylor (11') and Lucy Bronze (14') each scored during the first quarter-hour as England held off hosts Canada 2-1.
Japan will take on England in a Canada Day (Wednesday) semifinal at Edmonton at 4:00 PM Pacific Time with the winner advancing to next Sunday's final at Vancouver against the United States-Germany winner.
