Both games were played at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In the opener, Gaelle Enganamouit delivered a hat trick (36', 73', PK-90'+3) as Cameroon destroyed Ecuador 6-0.
In the nightcap, Aya Miyama successfully converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute as Japan opened defense of their World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland.

In the opener, Ngozi Okobi (50'), Asisat Oshoala (53'), and Francisca Ordega (87') each scored a goal as Nigeria gained a 3-3 draw with Sweden, whose goals came through the courtesy of Desire Oparanozie (OG-21'), Nilla Fischer (31'), and Linda Sembrandt (60')
In the nightcap, Megan Rapinoe scored twice (12', 78') as the United States defeated Australia 3-1.
