The fourth round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament concluded on Wednesday with seven games.
At Pittsburgh:
Goals in overtime from Kofi Opare (92') and Nick DeLeon (104') carried DC United to a 3-1 road win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL.
At Richmond, Virginia:
Adam Bedell scored twice (17',63') as the Columbus Crew defeated the USL's Richmond Kickers 3-1 on the road.
At Hempstead, New York:
After a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes, Mads Stokkelien, Lucky Mkosana (whose equalizer in the 90th minute forced overtime), Adam Moffat, and Hunter Gorskie all converted their spot kicks as the New York Cosmos made sure that there was still an NASL club left in the tournament by overcoming a two-goal deficit at the one-hour mark to force a scoreless overtime, then knocked off the visiting New York Red Bulls in the penalty-kick shootout 4-3.
At Charleston, South Carolina:
After Carlos Rivas delivered a hat trick---all on successful penalty kicks, two of them in overtime (76', 94', 105'+2), Pedro Ribeiro, Sean St. Ledger, Amobi Okugo, Rafael Ramos, Harrison Heath, Luke Boden, Seb Hines, and Danny Mwanga all converted their spot kicks as Orlando City, after 120 of regulation and overtime soccer that resulted in a 4-4 draw, won the penalty-kick shootout 8-7 on the road at the expense of the USL's Charleston Battery.
At Boston:
Jorge Herrera scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute as the Charlotte Independence wound up being the only USL club left in the tournament after their 1-0 road win over the New England Revolution.
At Houston:
Leonel Miranda (24') and Ricardo Clark (90'+2) each scored a goal as the Houston Dynamo blanked the visiting Austin Aztex (USL) 2-0.
At Carson, California:
Robbie Keane delivered a hat trick (28', 53', 69') as the Los Angeles Galaxy demolished visiting PSA Elite of the fifth-division USASA 6-1.
