US Open Cup

12 games were contested on Wednesday as the third round of the US Open Cup tournament concluded.

At Rochester, New York:

Samuel Edoung-Biyo scored the winning goal in the opening minute of stoppage time at the conclusion of the second overtime period as the Rochester Rhinos (USL) defeated GPS Omens (USASA) 2-1.

At Jacksonville, Florida:

Drew Beckie's own goal in the 21st minute proved decisive as the Charleston Battery (USL) knocked off the NASL's Jacksonville Armada 1-0 on the road.

At Cincinnati:

In a battle of USL clubs, Baye Djiby Fall scored the game's lone goal in the 49th minute as FC Cincinnati defeated visiting Louisville City 1-0.

At Cary, North Carolina:

Nazmi Albadawi scored twice (51', 82') as North Carolina FC (NASL) dominated the visiting Charlotte Independence (USL) 4-1.

At Miami:

Vincenzo Rennella (PK-73') and Jaime Chavez (83') each scored once as the NASL's Miami FC blanked the visiting Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL 2-0.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Jake Bond scored twice (16', 50') as the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL) dominated Reading United AC (PDL) 3-0 on the road.

At Chicago:

Levi Houapeu's goal in the opening minute held up as Christos FC from the USASA knocked off the PDL's Chicago FC United 1-0 on the road.  With defeats suffered by not only United, but Reading United as well, there are no fourth-division clubs left in the tournament, as Baltimore-based fifth-division Christos would be the only non-professional club to reach the fourth round.

At Tulsa, Oklahoma:

After 120 scoreless minutes, the Tulsa Roughnecks, with Joey Calistri, Juan Pablo Caffa, Ian Svantesson, Fabian Cerda, Modou Jadama, Collin Fernandez, and Francisco Ugarte converting their spot kicks, won the penalty-kick shootout 7-6 over visiting San Antonio FC in another battle of USL clubs.

At Colorado Springs, Colorado:

Jose Barril (73') and Wojciech Wojcik (84') each scored once as the Oklahoma City Energy knocked off the Colorado Springs Switchbacks 2-1 on the road in another all-USL contest.

At Scottsdale, Arizona:

Kyle Bekker (81') and Tom Heinemann (90'+4) each scored a goal as the NASL's San Francisco Deltas defeated the USL's Phoenix Rising 2-1 on the road.

At Azusa, California:

Roy Meeus scored the only goal of the match in the 41st minute as Orange County SC (USL) took out the Los Angeles Wolves of the USASA 1-0 on the road.

At Sacramento, California:

In still another battle between USL clubs, Harry Williams (41') and Trevin Caesar (59') each scored once as the Sacramento Republic defeated visiting Reno 1868 FC 2-0.
