At Moscow:
Marcelo scored the only goal of Lyon's series-opening 1-0 road win over CSKA Moscow in the 68th minute.
At Marseilles, France:
Lucas Ocampos scored twice (1', 58') as Marseille defeated visiting Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in game one.
At Lisbon:
Fredy Montero scored twice (45'+1, 49') as Sporting CP blanked visiting FC Viktoria Plzen 2-0 in their series-opening contest.
At Dortmund, Germany:
Valon Berisha scored twice (PK-49', 56') as FC Red Bull Salzburg knocked off Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the opening match of their two-game series.
At Milan, Italy:
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (15') and Aaron Ramsey (45'+4) each scored a first-half goal as Arsenal blanked AC Milan 2-0 on the road in their series opener.
