At Madrid:
After Real Madrid lead Bayern Munich 2-1 at the end of regulation time of Wednesday's second match of their UEFA Champions League semifinal series (Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both of Los Blancos' goals [PK-6', 14'] while Arjen Robben scored for the visitors on a successful penalty kick in the 27th minute] the two-match set was deadlocked at 3-3 on aggregate. After 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Nauer saved spot kicks from Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka (shown here) while Sergio Ramos miserably missed his during the penalty-kick shootout while Bastien Schweinsteiger converted the decisive spot kick that enabled Bayern to win the shootout 3-1 and book their place in the May 19 final against Chelsea, a game in which they would get to play in their own stadium back home in Munich.
At Barcelona:
Ramires (45'+1) and Fernando Torres (90'+1, shown here) ided the scoring as Chelsea, who were playing with ten men following the red-card ejection of John Terry in the 37th minute, gained a shock 2-2 road draw in game two of their UEFA Champions League semifinal series with Barcelona and dethroned the defending European (and world) club champs 3-2 on aggregate. The Blues will take on the Real Madrid-Bayern Munich in the May 19 final in Munich. This will be Chelsea's second apprearance in the final, having lost the title match with Manchester United in Moscow in 2008 following an extensive penalty-kick shootout.

At Munich, Germany:
Mario Gomez delivered the game-winning goal in the 90th minute (shown here) as Bayern Munich defeated visiting Real Madrid 2-1 in the opening game of their two-game UEFA Champions League semifinal series. At London:
Frank Lampard (PK-20', that's him here) and Raul Meireles (90'+2) each scored a goal as Chelsea defeated visiting SL Benfica 2-1 in the second match of the two-game series and took the set 3-1 on aggregate.

The semifinal round will begin on April 17 when Bayern Munich will host Real Madrid in the opening game of their two-game series, with Chelsea hosting Barcelona in game one of their series the next day.
The return matches will be played on April 24 (Chelsea @ Barcelona) and 25 (Bayern Munich @ Real Madrid).
The winners will face off in the final on May 19 at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
Two games were played on Tuesday as the second half of the quarterfinal round of the UFEA Champions League commenced.
At Barcelona:
Lionel Messi converted a pair of first-half penalty kicks (11', 41') as Barcelona took out visiting AC Milan 3-1, both in game two of their two-match series, and the series itself on aggregate. Barca qualified for their fifth consecutive appearance in the Champions League's semifinal round. Shown here is Andres Iniesta, when he scored Barca's third goal in the 53rd minute.
At Munich, Germany:
Ivica Olic scored both goals (13', 47'; that's him with his first score) as Bayern Munich defeated Mareille 2-0 for a second time in their two-game series and took the series 4-0 on aggregate.

At Marseilles, France:
Mario Gomez (44') and Arjen Robben (69', that's him here celerating) each delivered a goal as Bayern Munich took control of their two-match series with Marseille following their game-one 2-0 road win.
At Milan, Italy:
The opening contest of the two-game series between AC Milan and visiting defending champions Barcelona ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Here, we see Barca's Alexis Sanchez doing down under the challenge of Rossoneri goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.

At Nicosia, Cyprus:
Karim Benzema scored twice (74'[he's seen here celebrating with teammates], 90') as Real Madrid, after having been kept off the scoreboard for 73 minutes, ended up winning on the road, pulling away from APOEL FC 3-0 in the opening game of their two-match series.
At Lisbon, Portugal:
Salomon Kalou (shown here) scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute as Chelsea took the opening contest of their two-game series with SL Benfica 1-0 on the road.

The draw for the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the UEFA Champions League took place on Friday.
Here are the matchups with the opening contests to take place on March 27 and 28 with the return matches taking place on April 3 and 4 with the game-one hosts listed first:

The semifinal round will take place with the opening matches taking place on April 17 and 18 with the return contests to take place on April 24 and 25.

The Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League continued on Tuesday with two games.
At Munich, Germany:
Mario Gomez delivered four consecutive goals (44', 50', 61', 67', that's Super Mario scoring that final goal here) while Arjen Robben added a pair (10', 81') as Bayern Munich annihilated visiting FC Basel 7-0 in game two and won their two-match series 7-1 on aggregate, more than bouncing back after their game-one defeat in Switzerland.
At Milan, Italy:
Brandao scored what proved to be the series-winning goal at 90 minutes as Marseille, despite dropping a 2-1 game-two decision on the road, with the score at 2-2 on aggregate, still ousted Inter Milan due to the away goals rule. Shown here is a frustrated Dejan Stankovic for the Nerazzurri.

Two games were played on Wednesday as the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League continued.
At Barcelona:
Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals (25', 42', 49', 58', 84') in a single Champions League contest as Barcelona destroyed Bayer Leverkusen (whose goalkeeper Bernd "Don't Call Me Jay" Leno is seen with that dejected look on his face) 7-1 at home in game two and completed their two-match demolition of the German club 10-2 on aggregate.

Gustavo Manduca's goal in the 9th minute (pictured here) enabled APOEL FC to top visiting Lyon 1-0 in regulation time of game two, squaring the two-match series at 1-1 on aggregate. After 30 scoreless overtime minutes, APOEL goalkeeper Dionissis Chiotis made two saves in the penalty-kick shootout against the visitors' Alexandre Lacazette and Michel Bastos while Ivan Trickovski converted what proved to be the winning spot kick as the Cypriot club advanced to the quarterfinal round after a 4-3 PK shootout victory.

At London:
Despite dropping a 3-0 road decision in game two, AC Milan still won their two-game series with Arsenal 4-3 on aggregate. Laurent Koscielny (7'), Tomas Rosicky (26'), and Robin van Persie (PK-43', shown here) provided the scoring for the Gunners who nearly came all the way back from that four-goal pasting they took last month in Italy.

At Moscow:
Pontus Wernbloom's stoppage-time equalizer (90'+3, that's him on the right, celebrating) enabled CSKA Moscow to salvage a game-one 1-1 home draw with Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Los Galacticos in the 28th minute.
At Naples, Italy:
Ezequiel Lavezzi scored twice (38' as shown here, 65') as Napoli took care of visiting Chelsea 3-1 in their series opener.

At Saint Petersburg, Russia:
Roman Shirokov scored twice (27', 88', that's him celebrating after his first tally) as Zenit Saint Petersburg took game one of their two-match series 3-2 at home against SL Benfica. Maxi Pereira (20') and Oscar Cardozo (87') provided the scoring that kept the Portuguese club in the series.
At Milan, Italy:
Robinho scored twice (38', 49') as AC Milan dismantled visiting Arsenal 4-0 in the opening match of their two-game set. Here, we see the Gunners' bringing down the Rossoneri's Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Arsenal penalty area, setting up Zlatan's successful penalty kick in the 79th minute.
