OFC Champions League: Auckland City On Cusp Of Advancing To Final

The second half of group-stage play in the OFC Champions League got under way with one game contested on Friday and three more on Saturday.


Group A:


At Faa'a, Tahiti:


Tafana stayed alive in Group A as they knocked off group-leading Waitakere United 3-0 at home on Friday.  Alvin Tehau (1'), Sebastian Labayen (43'), and Taufa Neuffer (70') each tallied once for the Tahitian-based club.


At Nouema, New Caledonia:


Osea Vakatalesau's successful penalty kick in the 36th minute provided the only goal of the match as Ba FC stayed alive in Group A, eliminating AS Mont-Dore from the tournament with a 1-0 road victory.


GROUP A STANDINGS:


1. Waitakere United (GP: 4; GD: +12; PTS: 9)
2. AS Tefana (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 7)
3. Ba FC (GP: 4; GD: -5; PTS: 6)
4. z-AS Mont-Dore (GP: 4; GD: -3; PTS: 1)

Group B:


At Auckland, New Zealand:


Adam Dickinson scored twice (7', 59') as Auckland City smothered visiting Koloale FC Honiara 7-3, eliminating the visiting club from the Solomon Islands from the tournament.


At Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea:


Kema Jack provided both goals (11', 79') as Hekari United stayed in the tournament with a 2-0 home win over visiting Amicale, eliminating the club from Vanuatu in the process and preventing Auckland City from locking up the Group B title.


GROUP B STANDINGS:


1. Auckland City (GP: 4; GD: +10; PTS: 12)
2. PRK Hekari United (GP: 4; GD: +2; PTS: 7)
3. z-Amicale FC (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 4)
