Timbers Qualify For CONCACAF Champions League

A  US Soccer Federation proposal in which the Major League Soccer regular-season conference champion who is not the Supporters Shield winner, instead of the MLS Cup Final loser, would become eligible for a berth in the CONCACAF Champions League was approved on Friday.

The Portland Timbers, who won the Western Conference regular-season title this past season (instead of MLS Cup Final runners-up Real Salt Lake), will take part in next season's edition of the CCL.
